Professor Flamer teaches composition courses for the Department as well as the College of Ethnic Studies that are required for Africana Studies majors (unless students are exempt due to Advance Placement-AP test scores). Professor Flamer's thesis research examined Black teachers teaching Black adult learners. She received her M.Ed. from SF State, and she is also an alumna of SF State who double majored in English Creative Writing and Africana Studies. While she has taught other courses in Africana Studies, her current courses entail Introduction to Africana Literature (AFRS 210) Second Year Composition (AFRS 214) and Graduate Writing Assessment Requirement or GWAR (ETHS 300).
She currently serves at Faculty Advisor to Jabulani (Black Graduation), SFSU Gospel Choir (Gospel Gators), Habesha Student Union, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
