Professor Walker completed her MA degree in the Department of African American Studies at Columbia University, New York. Walker reflects the University's core values concerning community engagement as an organizer and scholar. She has received many awards and accolades for her work and research. An alumna of SF State's Africana Studies degree program, the faculty are fortunate to welcome her "home" after much success in New York and the greater Bay area. Professor Walker is currently also the faculty adviser to the SF State's historic Black Student Union (est. 1966). It is unique to have a faculty adviser that is an alumna of the University and that also has much experience as a leader and former member of SF State's BSU.
