Biography: 

Professor Casey teaches core curriculum in Africana Studies. He teaches "From Africa to Olmec America: Ancient African Prehistory and History" and "Kemet, Afrocentricity, and the Dawn of Science." Professor Casey is renowned for his actvism and advocacy in Oakland and the greater Bay area. He has organized several grand cultural events, including Oakland's historic annual Kwanzaa celebration. His chapter, "Advancing Service Learning as a Tranfromative Method for Social Justice Work" (with Robert Stanley Oden) is published in Race, Poverty, and Social Justice: Multidisciplinary Perspectives Through Service Learning (edited by José Z. Calderón and Gerald Eisman).
